Bright Christmas 2018

Through the help of the community, The Brightside Project hopes to extend its reach to all income and age qualifying children in Columbiana County this Christmas.

“Children in Columbiana County and surrounding communities are hurting,” Lisa Wallace, Co-Director of The Brightside Project, said. “They are struggling to see a bright future as they battle against hunger, poverty, drug abuse, neglect and complex emotional and mental issues which makes the holidays difficult. Some children may be separated from their parents, others from their siblings. 100% of the children we serve come from families living at or below the federal poverty level. All have experienced significant trauma that can darken this holiday season so we want to give them hope.”

The Brightside Project offers many ways to participate in Bright Christmas. Please read each volunteer opportunity carefully, as some changes have been made this year.

Coordinate a Toy Drive at work, among family, friends, or colleagues. You can hold a Toy Drive to collect toys suitable for children ages 3-10 years old. To manage your Toy Drive, contact The Brightside Project to request a collection box and signage to promote your Toy Drive.

Buy gifts for the children (Ages 3-10 years old). Gifts are especially needed for older children. Gift cards are an easy way to give to this age group. Older children also appreciate bath sets, sport items, board games, child-friendly DVDs, music and art kits.

Amazon Wish List – Visit at for a curated list of gifts. To ensure gifts are delivered on time, the Amazon Wish List closes on Friday, Dec. 14.

Volunteer at the Bright Christmas Toy Give-A-Way – Contact The Brightside Project for volunteer opportunities leading up to the event or to volunteer at the event.
